World Markets bounce back in April
Tiny URL: http://tinyurl.com/6pcgnfThe Standard and Poor’s “World by Numbers” showed a strong jump for April after sharp declines in the first Quarter of the Year. The Emerging and Developed equity markets dropped 10.56% and 8.95% respectively during the first three months of the year. Rising commodity prices, falling dollar and the percieved impact of a US recession affected global markets in the first quarter of 2008.
April however has shown a significant change in market performance around the globe. The World by Numbers, developed markets posted a 5.15% gain in April after losing 8.95% in March. Likewise, emerging markets climbed 7.49% in April after falling 5.11% the month before.
Speculation that the credit crisis in the US is nearing an end has resulted in renewed hope and faith in the market. Both China (+15.10% ) and India (+11.49%) posted double digit gains during April.
