With Redhat recently issuing a press release that the consumer desktop market is too hard, Ubuntu linux seems to be leading the way in Desktop Linux. However, Ubuntu Linux is fighting hard to break into the server market where Novell Linux ( Suse Enterprise Linux ) and Redhat Enterprise Linux are the clear enterprise linux distributions of choice among commercial linux deployments.
Ubuntu Server Edition is designed to run on any Intel or AMD x86, AMD_64, EM_64T processors as well as Sun Sparc T1 processors. Technical specs are available here.
