Walmart, our friendly neighborhood everything store, has introduced online classifieds. The store is in collaboration with Oodle, a bay area company launched in 2005. The store front is almost exactly like oodle except for walmart’s color and branding. Oodle is a local classifieds company founded by ex eBay and Excite executives. The company supposedly recieves about 4 million unique visitors each month.
The local classifieds markets has been in the news of late with Craigslist and eBay filing lawsuits agianst each other. craigslist.org clearly dominates the online classifieds market with eBay launching its own Kijiji service despite owning a stake in craigslist. Oodle’s collaboration with walmart adds another twist to the battle for the online classifieds market place.
