The cost of owning the iPhone 3G - iExpensive!
Tiny URL: http://tinyurl.com/58jn28With all the fanfare surrounding the iPhone 3G, its time we took a look at what it is going to cost to own one. ATT has announced special pricing plans for the iPhone and the much touted “twice faster at half the price” from Steve Job’s WWDC 2008 announcement is sadly only true for customers who sign a 2 year agreement or who are eligible for an upgrade to the iPhone. For those not eligible - the price is $399 and $499 respectively for the 8GB and the 16GB models with a 2 year contract. ATT is also expected to announce no-contract versions of the device - Price tag: $599 and $699 for the 8GB and 16GB models - Ouch!
Here’s a more detailed breakdown on what it will really cost for new owners to get the iPhone 3G and keep it for 2 years. Don’t forget this does not include text messaging service or the cost to replace the battery if the one in your phone goes bad - that an addition $86 dollars + servicing downtime as the batteries are not easily replaceable. Only apple can do it for you! “Half the price - my foot”
