VentureWire is reporting that shopping comparison service Become Inc. has raised $8 million in Series D funding from European Founders Fund as it expands into the European market. The new funding comes about four months after Become raised $17.5 million from TPG Growth. The company has raised $37.2 million in total.

Become.com provides comparison shopping results for 25 million products and 5,000 merchants, as well as a wide range of product news and research for consumers who search for products. The company’s business model is based on cost-per-click revenue with companies that sell products. The Mountain View, Calif.-based company, with 37 employees, competes with eBay Inc.’s Shopping.com.

Over the past year, Become has grown more than 300% in unique visitors, while Shopping.com has declined slightly. Become now has 6.9 million monthly unique visitors compared to Shopping.com’s 7.6 million, according to Compete.com.
