Google competitor Cuil debut’s

Cuil, a new search engine that claims to index 121,617,892,992 pages has just opened itself to the world. As per Cuil, Google by comparison indexes only half to one third as many pages. Recently Google posted in their blogs that they had indexed the 1 trillionth URL.
Cuil is a stealth mode startup begun by ex google engineer Anna Patterson and a few friends. The company is backed by $33 million in venture capital money. Patterson received her PhD in computer science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and was a research scientist at Stanford University working on data mining. She also created a search engine index of 30 billion pages using information from the Internet Archive at Archive.org, after which she was employed by Google from 2004 until 2006. She quite the company to start Cuil.
