Google announces Video for businesses, Picasa 3.0 beta released

The headlines have been flush with news about the public beta of Google Chrome, the new open source web browser from Google. There’s more news from Google though. Today Goggle has also announced Google video for businesses and a beta release for Picasa 3.0.
Google Video for businesses
Google Video for businesses is available as part of Google Apps Premier Edition. It allows YouTube’s ease of sharing and watching videos, but in a secure, private environment made for content like internal corporate announcements, team member status updates, employee training materials and informal information-sharing. Videos can be easily shared with everyone in the company or with specific individuals.
People can comment on, rate and tag videos that they watch, bringing even more useful information to subsequent viewers. Google uses Google Video for businesses inside the company for it’s own internal needs.
Picasa 3.0 beta
Google has also released Picasa 3.0 in beta for immediate downloads. With Picasa 3 there are several improvements. The complete change list is available here. Here’s a quick summary
- ’sync to web’ button to sync albums on your PC to the web. Photos edited / added to the album on the PC will be automatically reflected on Picasa Web Albums.
- New editing tools to retouch and restore photos, automatically detect and fix red-eye, or add text to images.
- Overhaul to existing features like photo collages and slideshows
- A brand-new movie maker that can blend photos, video, webcam capture, and music to create customized movies that you can easily share on YouTube.

Picasa Web Albums now includes a new ‘name tags’ feature that helps organize your growing photo collection by people. With name tags Picasa will automatically group photos containing similar faces: face recognition is action. See video from Google below.
