Apple refreshes iPod line, prepares for holiday season
Tiny URL: http://tinyurl.com/6colnbToday, Apple refreshed it’s iPod product line with the introduction of the new 4th generation iPod Nano. The 3rd generation Nano was met with much criticism for an un apple like design. The new Nano is sleek and is elongated in shape, much like the 2nd generation nano, a big hit among nano buyers.
Apple also introduced a new version of the iPod Touch. The biggest news was the 43% price cut for the feature-rich iPod Touch, which retails starting at $229 in a model with 8 gigabytes of storage. That model previously sold for $399.
The new iPod touch is smaller and lighter than the original, has a new design that features a contoured metal enclosure with integrated volume control buttons, a 3.5-inch widescreen glass display and has rounded edges.
The iPod touch works with the new iTunes 8 with the Genius feature that apple introduced today as well. The Genius feature allows customers to automatically create playlists while on the go. Users can preview the playlist Genius creates, refresh the list to choose different songs and save Genius playlists for later access.
The new iPod touch also features built-in Nike + iPod support making it workout ready. Users need to purchase the Nike + iPod sensor ($19 US) for use in their Nike + shoe to connect with the new iPod touch to track miles run or sync with the latest generation gym equipment.
All in all, it’s been a good day for Apple. Shareholders and Apple fans can rejoice over the new products. The product line refresh gives Apple a good line up for the coming holiday season.
