5 days of Grand Theft Auto 4 kills the competition

XBOX 360 and PS3 sales are falling. Compared to 262,000 XBOX 360 and 257,000 PS3 units sold in March, numbers were 188,000 and 187,000 units respectively for the month of April. Both units were hoping release of Grand Theft Auto 4 (GTA4) would help boost their sales and hamper Nintendo’s Wii’s march. GTA4, an eagerly awaited game from Take Two Interactive , has been released only for the XBOX 360 and the PS3 games consoles.
But it wasn’t bad news for GTA4. Hailed as a masterpiece with unbelievable critique ratings, GTA4 sold 1.85 million copies in total. The game on XBOX 360 sold twice as much as the PS3. GTA4 has managed to become the number one game in US market just in 5 days of for the month of April.
On Nintendo’s front, Wii continued its march to greatness selling 1.12 million units and Wii’s exclusive game Mario Kart Wii claiming second spot in the most sold games for the month of April.
All in all, there are 10.1 million XBOX 360s out there along with, quickly catching up is Wii’s 9.5 million units and PS3 running last with 4.3 million units.
