Oracle maintained its lead in relational database management systems with 44.3 percent of the market share with IBM at 2nd position with 21 percent for the year 2007, according to IDC. Worldwide database market highlights for the 2007:
- Relational database systems market growth - 12.6 percent, to $18.8 billion
- Oracle - market leader with revenue growth 13.3 percent
- IBM - revenue growth 13.3 percent
- Microsoft - 18.5 percent of market share, 14 percent revenue growth
- Sybase - market share 3.5 percent
- Teradal - market share 3.3 percent
