Capturing Osama is related to the Election?

Osama Bin Laden is the mastermind of 9/11 and world’s most wanted terrorist. So you would expect there should be an urgency in capturing or killing him. Now since the first time John McCain claimed he knows how to kill or capture Osama, I have been wondering if someone from the Bush administration would talk to him, he being a senator and foreign policy expert, should be able to provide more details on how to get this done. I mean, do we really need to wait until John McCain becomes the President? And what if he doesn’t? Would we never be able to capture Osama Bin Laden?

Today, someone took this question to the White House Press conference. And here is the exchange -

Q John McCain said recently that he knows how to get Osama bin Laden. And a couple of months ago he said that he knows how to improve our capabilities so that we would capture bin Laden. Has Senator McCain shared his knowledge with the president?

MS. PERINO: Maybe you haven’t been here. I’ve been very astute at not getting involved in the 2008 election, and I’m not going to start now.

Q It has nothing to do with the elections.

MS. PERINO: Yeah, it does. It has everything to do with the election. That’s exactly why you’re asking the question. And I’m not going to answer it.

So Mr. President is implying capturing Osama Bin Laden is something related to the the Election? Then I think he should be tried for treason and for abetting a terrorist.

Also, if John McCain keeps his plan to capture Osama to himself, he should be tried as well. I think if I had said I know how to capture Osama but I won’t tell anyone until January, same thing would happen to me. What makes Bush and McCain above the law?
