Campaign Enthusiasm Gap - 13 times?
Tiny URL: http://tinyurl.com/54a3o7Barack Obama has won the final Presidential Debate of 2008 giving his campaign a 4-0 win in Presidential debates. This victory among Independent voters along with a 7-14 point lead in the polls and a projected Electoral Votes count of 278-350, puts Barack Obama inches away from the Presidency in this election. With only 19 days to go, John McCain’s chances depend heavily on the enthusiasm of his supporters.
If campaign events are any indicator of the supporter’s enthusiasm, then John McCain is in deep trouble. At iMediaPress, we decided to compare the number of events posted by Barack Obama supporters and John McCain supporters in swing states and the results were astonishing. Barack Obama supporters are hosting up to 13 times more events than John McCain if the official websites www.barackobama.com and www.johnmccain.com are accurate.
To compare the enthusiasm gap, we took one city geographically at the approximate center (except for Nevada) of the swing state , and compared the number of events hosted within 100 miles of a zip code in that city (size limited by John McCain’s official website). In a group of 13 states selected by us, John McCain’s supporters are hosting 215 events between now and November 4th compared to almost 2,800 events hosted by Barack Obama’s supporters. That’s 13 times more events for Barack Obama!
These numbers do not represent a scientific way of analyzing the enthusiasm but definitely give the impression that Obama’s campaign has an incredibly busy calendar.
